Battery Davis

Battery Davis consists of two massive, earth-covered concrete bunkers buried deep within the dunes of Fort Funston. You can identify this site by the heavy, reinforced concrete structures that remain embedded in the landscape, often surrounded by brush and sand. Built in the late nineteen thirties, the battery served as a primary defense for the San Francisco harbor, designed to house two sixteen-inch artillery guns capable of firing shells over twenty-five miles out into the Pacific Ocean.
