Whittier Mansion

The Whittier Mansion is identifiable by its massive, cinnamon-colored Arizona sandstone facade and the prominent curved towers that rise above the corner of Jackson and Laguna Streets. Completed in eighteen ninety-six for the financier William Franklin Whittier, this thirty-room structure was engineered with a steel-reinforced framework, a design choice that allowed it to survive the nineteen oh six earthquake with little damage.
