Rancho Potrero de San Francisco

The Rancho Potrero de San Francisco, originally known as Potrero Nuevo or the new grazing ground, occupied a one thousand acre Mexican land grant covering the modern Potrero Hill neighborhood. Its borders extended from the bay at Potrero Point between Mission Creek to the north and Islais Creek to the south, encompassing the hill and the slopes descending to the west.
