Seals Stadium

Seals Stadium once occupied the block bound by Bryant and Sixteenth Streets in the Mission District. Built of steel and concrete for one point two five million dollars, the park opened on April seventh, nineteen thirty-one, with Ty Cobb throwing the ceremonial first pitch to a crowd of twenty-five thousand people. Its design was unusual for the era, featuring three separate dressing rooms to accommodate both the Pacific Coast League's San Francisco Seals and the Mission Reds, who shared the field for their first seven years.
