Fillmore West

The Fillmore West occupied the second floor of the building at the southwest corner of Market Street and South Van Ness Avenue. Originally constructed as a swing-era dance hall known as the El Patio and later the Carousel Ballroom, this two-story structure became a center of the rock music world under the direction of promoter Bill Graham between nineteen sixty-eight and nineteen seventy-one.
