Rincon Point (San Francisco)

Rincon Point sits along the waterfront beneath the massive concrete spans of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge. The name comes from the Spanish word for corner, marking the southern edge of what was once Yerba Buena Cove. In the eighteen fifties, the hills above this point served as a fashionable residential district for wealthy pioneers, but that landscape changed as the city expanded and the area was eventually reclaimed with landfill.
