The Stud is San Francisco's oldest LGBTQ bar, a venue that has operated in the South of Market neighborhood since nineteen sixty-six. You can identify the building by its presence on Folsom Street, a stretch of the city recognized for its deep roots in leather and queer history. Founded by George Matson and Alexis Muir, the bar was established as an inclusive space for all, welcoming drag performers, leather enthusiasts, and women at a time when many other establishments enforced restrictive entry policies.
