Jessie Square

Jessie Square is a pedestrian plaza that sits between the Contemporary Jewish Museum and the historic Saint Patrick’s Church. Completed in two thousand eight, the square was created as part of a major redevelopment of the Yerba Buena neighborhood, replacing what was once an asphalt parking lot and segments of the old Jessie Street. The plaza’s design features a gradual, stair-free slope that navigates an eight-foot elevation difference between the museum and Mission Street, incorporating green lawns, stone platforms, and wood benches.
