The Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, is defined by its sweeping, curved façade of white Italian travertine, which anchors the six-sided corner where Wacker Drive meets Wabash Avenue. Completed in nineteen sixty-eight, the seven-story structure occupies a prominent site along the Chicago River. Architect Harry Weese designed the building to fit this constrained, irregular lot, choosing to lift the main auditorium above a glass-enclosed lobby and reading room.
