Oliver Building

The Oliver Building at one hundred fifty-nine North Dearborn Street features a cast iron exterior with intricate, typewriter-related ornaments and patterns. Architects Holabird and Roche constructed the building between nineteen oh seven and nineteen oh eight to serve as the corporate headquarters for the Oliver Typewriter Company. Large, vertical windows characterize the facade, expressing the building's internal steel frame. The company name appears in the metal beneath the central window panes on the street level.
