The Transportation Building at six hundred South Dearborn Street is the tallest structure in the historic Printer's Row neighborhood, rising twenty-two stories on a narrow lot only sixty-seven feet wide. Designed by architect Fred V. Prather and completed in nineteen eleven, the building was originally a commercial hub for the printing and publishing firms that defined this district. Its striking, slender silhouette remains a fixture of the area's skyline.
