Court House Place

Courthouse Place, located at fifty-four West Hubbard Street, is a six-story building defined by its Richardsonian Romanesque style. Its heavy, rusticated stone exterior, arched entryways, and corner tourelles give the structure an imposing, fortress-like appearance that dominates the corner of Dearborn and Hubbard. Completed in eighteen ninety-three by architect Otto H. Matz, the building served as the Cook County Criminal Court for thirty-five years.
