Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

park garden

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is distinguished by the massive, bright red cherry perched in the bowl of a giant aluminum spoon, which sits at the center of a pond shaped like a linden tree seed. Opened in nineteen eighty-eight, this eleven-acre space is a collaboration between the Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The garden occupies land once known as The Parade, a site previously used for military drills and, later, formal armory gardens.
