Binion's Gambling Hall is easily identified by its name on the front of the block along Fremont Street and the echoes of the historic Horseshoe sign that once defined the downtown skyline. Founded by Texas gambler Benny Binion in nineteen fifty-one, the establishment began by taking over the nineteen thirty-two Hotel Apache. Binion introduced a new style of service to the district, replacing sawdust floors with carpet and offering air conditioning for player comfort at a time when these were not standard.
