The New Mexico State Capitol is the only circular state capitol in the United States. Widely known as the Roundhouse, the building is defined by a central cylinder with four protruding wings that form the shape of the Zia sun symbol when viewed from above. Dedicated on December eighth, nineteen sixty-six, it stands as the seat of state government and follows a design by architect Willard C. Kruger that blends New Mexico Territorial style with neoclassical influences.
