The Rosenbach

The Rosenbach occupies two nineteenth-century townhouses on Delancey Place, distinguishable by their brick facades and the quiet, residential character of the block. These houses once belonged to brothers Philip and Doctor Abraham Simon Wolf Rosenbach, who were among the most prominent rare book and antique dealers in the world during the first half of the twentieth century. They filled these rooms with an extraordinary collection of literary and historical treasures before establishing the museum in nineteen fifty-four to share their holdings with the public.
