Masonic Temple

The Masonic Temple rises above the intersection of Broad and Filbert Streets, defined by its towering, medieval Norman architecture and asymmetrical stone towers that reach two hundred thirty-two feet into the air. Completed in eighteen seventy-three, the granite structure serves as the headquarters for the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. Its exterior, which resembles an ornate castle, conceals an interior containing seven distinct meeting halls. Each room represents a different architectural style, including Egyptian, Ionic, and Corinthian, designed to honor the historical roots of the fraternity.
