18th Century Garden

The Eighteenth Century Garden on Walnut Street is defined by its formal geometric planting beds and a white vine-covered gazebo. Located between third and fourth streets, this space functions as a living recreation of colonial-era landscape design. While the garden occupies a footprint once used for a larger private plot between seventeen fifty and seventeen eighty-three, the current layout was established by the National Park Service to demonstrate the horticultural styles common to Philadelphia in the seventeen hundreds.
