Independence Hall

Independence Hall is a red brick building recognized by its central tower and the symmetry of its Georgian architecture. Construction began in seventeen thirty-two and lasted until seventeen fifty-three, when it opened as the Pennsylvania State House. It served as a government building for the colonial legislature, though it eventually became the site where the Second Continental Congress met to debate and adopt the Declaration of Independence in seventeen seventy-six.
