Old City Hall stands as a restrained, red-brick building with white trim located on the corner of Fifth and Chestnut Streets, right alongside Independence Hall. Designed by architect David Evans Junior and completed in seventeen ninety-one, the structure was originally built to house Philadelphia’s municipal government. Its symmetrical, Federal-style facade matches the surrounding historic buildings of the State House complex.
