Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church is a three-story masonry building with large round-arch windows and Romanesque styling. It stands on a parcel of land at the corner of South Sixth and Addison Streets that has been continuously owned by African Americans since seventeen ninety-one, making it the oldest such property in the United States.
