The National Aviary stands out in Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side of Pittsburgh as a structure capped with distinctive glass roof panels. This is the only independent, indoor nonprofit zoo in the United States dedicated exclusively to birds, housing more than five hundred birds representing over one hundred and fifty species.
