The Fort Pitt Block House is a small, pentagonal brick structure located within Point State Park. Built in seventeen sixty-four, it served as a defensive redoubt for Fort Pitt, which was once a sprawling British fortification at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio rivers. It is the only surviving building from the original fort and stands as the oldest authenticated structure west of the Allegheny Mountains.
