Chinatown Inn

The Chinatown Inn on Third Avenue is distinguished by its exterior, which retains pagoda-style features. It stands as the last remaining business from a once-thriving neighborhood of Chinese immigrants that emerged in Pittsburgh during the eighteen seventies. While the area between Grant and Ross Streets formerly supported a dense collection of laundries, shops, and restaurants, the construction of the Boulevard of the Allies in the nineteen twenties displaced the majority of the community.
