Strawberry Way is a narrow corridor that cuts through the grid of downtown Pittsburgh. It appears in the original seventeen eighty-four town plan, where it was first recorded as Strawberry Alley. The name reflects the frontier origins of the city, when surveyors named minor streets after the wild fruits and native wilderness surrounding the early outpost.
