The apartment complex at eight Wylde Street is a residential block constructed in nineteen sixty-seven. It occupies land where a Victorian mansion once stood, known as Wyldefel House. That earlier residence served as a grand home for an art collector named William Arthur Crowle, who was well known in the nineteen thirties for the lavish social gatherings he hosted in his ballroom.
