The Sydney Conservatorium of Music is a sandstone building characterized by its castellated towers and Gothic battlements, which give it the appearance of a medieval fortress overlooking the Royal Botanic Gardens. While it now hosts musicians and students, the structure began its life in eighteen seventeen as the stables for the proposed Government House.
