Darling Harbour

Darling Harbour is a precinct of wide, pedestrianized spaces and water-side attractions that sits where Sydney once operated its primary industrial port. Before European ships arrived, the Wangal and Gadigal clans knew this bay as Tumbalong, a place where they gathered seafood. Early settlers later renamed it Cockle Bay for the shell middens lining its shores, but in eighteen twenty-six, Governor Ralph Darling claimed the name for himself.
