Metro Minerva Theatre Building

The Metro Minerva Theatre building is defined by its sweeping vertical curves and stepped forms, standing as an exceptional example of interwar Art Deco and functionalist architecture. Opened on May eighteen, nineteen thirty-nine, the venue was initially named after the Roman goddess of wisdom and gained fame for its grand proscenium arch and distinctive horsehair ceiling. David N. Martin, a theatrical promoter, commissioned the structure as an entertainment hub for Sydney, billing it as Australia’s wonder theatre.
