Shield Street Mall

Shield Street Mall is a pedestrian spine running through the Cairns commercial grid, defined by its landscaped gardens and outdoor seating areas. Designed to encourage strolling and social gatherings, the space features a series of mosaic walls that serve as a public art installation. These mosaics were created by Yarrabah artists Philomena Yeatman, Edna Anbrym, and Valmai Pollard, who translated domestic paintings into large-scale works covering over one hundred and sixty square meters of low garden walls.
