The Citizens Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef is a six-meter-tall stainless steel sculpture located on the Cairns Esplanade. Its polished surface forms a wave-like arch, depicting a life-sized stingray leading a collection of marine creatures and birds. Unveiled in August twenty seventeen, the structure sits on the waterfront to mark Cairns as a primary entry point to the world-heritage reef system.
