Hallstatt World Heritage Museum

The Hallstatt World Heritage Museum, or Welterbemuseum, occupies a former parsonage building near the center of the village. Its exterior facade harmonizes with the surrounding alpine architecture, and a replica of a prehistoric wooden staircase stands outside as a physical reminder of the ancient mining history found deep within the nearby salt mines.
