The Brewery Creek Community Garden occupies a quiet patch of land that sits directly above a buried history. Its name recalls a stream that once carved a ravine through this landscape, providing a vital resource for First Nations people long before the city expanded. By the late eighteen eighties, that same waterway powered the grain mills and water wheels of early industrial settlers, including Charles Doering’s Vancouver Brewery, which opened nearby in eighteen eighty-eight.
