The Plaza of Nations sits on the northeast shore of False Creek as a remnant of the nineteen eighty-six World Exposition, known as Expo eighty-six. During that fair, this site served as the central gathering hub and the location of the British Columbia Pavilion. It featured a large, glass-roofed plaza capable of holding four thousand five hundred people, designed to host major ceremonial events and performances. While most of the structures built for the world's fair were temporary, the Plaza of Nations remained on the waterfront long after the crowds departed.
