The Marine Building is a twenty-two-story Art Deco tower at three hundred fifty-five Burrard Street, recognizable by its sea-green terracotta facade and intricate exterior carvings of sea life, zeppelins, and steamships. When it opened in October nineteen thirty, it stood as the tallest building in the British Empire. Architecturally, it was intended to evoke a great crag rising from the sea, complete with marine flora and fauna tinted in green and gold.
