Sun Tower

The Sun Tower is distinguished by a hexagonal tower that rises seventeen stories above the intersection of West Pender and Beatty streets, capped by a copper-clad dome. Commissioned by newspaper publisher and future mayor L. D. Taylor, it opened in nineteen twelve as the World Building. At the time of its completion, it reached eighty-two meters, a height that earned it the claim of being the tallest building in the British Empire.
