The Sinclair Centre occupies an entire city block in downtown Vancouver, immediately identifiable by the forty-three-meter clock tower rising above the corner of Granville and Hastings streets. This complex consists of four distinct buildings that were once separate structures: the former Main Post Office, the R.V. Winch Building, the Customs Examining Warehouse, and the Post Office Extension. In nineteen eighty-six, the federal government linked these diverse buildings with a glass-roofed atrium, creating a unified center named for James Sinclair, a former federal Minister of Fisheries and the maternal grandfather of Justin Trudeau.
