Little Sister's Book and Art Emporium is marked by a distinctive hot pink electric sign hanging above its storefront on Davie Street. Founded in nineteen eighty-three by Jim Deva and Bruce Smyth, the shop began as a small business operating out of the upstairs of a residential house on Thurlow Street. It was the first business in Vancouver dedicated specifically to the gay and lesbian community that operated outside of a bar or club setting.
