Museum of Memory & Human Rights

museum

The Museum of Memory and Human Rights is a striking, contemporary structure defined by its rectangular form of glass, steel, and green metallic mesh that appears to hover over a sunken, open-air plaza. Inaugurated in January twenty ten, the museum was created to document the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet between nineteen seventy-three and nineteen ninety. Its design, selected through an international competition, features a plaza that dips down to an entrance beneath the building, while a concrete wall lining the approach displays the articles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
