The Provincial House of the Capuchins of Chile sits on grounds originally owned by María Rosa Portales and later donated by Vicente Larraín Espinosa and Valentín Fernández Beltrán. The site is identified by the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua, built between eighteen fifty-three and eighteen sixty-one by the Italian architect Eusebio Chelli. His design draws from the work of the sixteenth-century architect Andrea Palladio, featuring a screen of columns that separates the chancel from the vestry.
