Precious Blood Church

The Church of the Precious Blood is marked by its two prominent bell towers and a formal portico featuring large Corinthian columns that support a triangular frontispiece. Located on Compañía de Jesús Street, the temple was commissioned in eighteen seventy-three by Mother Magdalena Guerrero Larraín, the founder of the Congregation of the Precious Blood. Construction began in eighteen seventy-five under the direction of Italian architect Eusebio Chelli, and after his death, it was completed by Ignacio Cremonesi in nineteen oh one. The church was officially inaugurated in nineteen oh six, following repairs required by the Valparaíso earthquake that struck the same year.
