The Palacio Álamos stands at the intersection of Santo Domingo and General Bulnes streets in the Yungay neighborhood. Its corner entrance, known as an ochavo, distinguishes the structure, which displays an eclectic architectural style blending Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, and Beaux-Arts elements. Designed by architects Alberto Álamos Ramos and Humberto Bravo, the building was constructed between nineteen twenty-one and nineteen twenty-five for Ignacio Álamos Cuadra, a mining businessman and attorney.
