Ex Teatro Carrera

The Ex Teatro Carrera stands along the Avenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins, identifiable by its imposing four-story neoclassical facade adorned with intricate mosaics of classical tiles and colored Italian glass. Built between nineteen twenty-six and nineteen twenty-seven on the former garden grounds of the Palacio Concha-Cazotte, the building was designed by architects Gustavo Mönckeberg and José Aracena. It once held fifteen hundred spectators in a semicircular arrangement of seats and boxes, gaining fame as one of the first cinemas in Chile to introduce sound technology.
