Correo Central Building

The Correo Central building is defined by its pastel-pink exterior and an elaborate glass cupola that rises above the northern edge of the Plaza de Armas. This site has hosted major centers of power since the sixteenth century, beginning as the home of the city's founder, Pedro de Valdivia. Later, it housed the colonial Governors' Palace and served as the official Presidential Palace from eighteen twenty until eighteen forty-six, when the government relocated to La Moneda.
