Palacio Bruna stands along the edge of Parque Forestal, recognizable by a distinctive frieze of garlands and putti that wraps around its three-story Italian Renaissance facade. Commissioned in nineteen sixteen by the saltpeter magnate and senator Augusto Bruna, the residence was designed by architect Julio Bertrand. Before the work reached completion in nineteen twenty-one, Bertrand died of tuberculosis, leaving his friend and colleague Pedro Prado to finish the construction.
