The National Museum of Fine Arts is marked by a massive glass dome that sits above its central hall, containing over two thousand glass pieces and weighing more than one hundred thousand kilograms. Inaugurated in nineteen ten, this building was commissioned as the centerpiece of Chile's centennial independence celebrations. The Chilean-French architect Émile Jéquier designed the structure, drawing heavy inspiration from the Petit Palais in Paris.
