Basilica de la Merced

The Basilica de la Merced is identifiable by its twin towers and a facade featuring reddish walls accented with beige trim. This structure is the third iteration of a church on this site, with the current building completed in seventeen sixty. The Mercedarian Order, the first religious congregation to arrive in Santiago alongside Pedro de Valdivia, established their original presence here in fifteen sixty-six.
