Church of San Francisco

religious

The Church of San Francisco is recognized by its deep red walls and the Victorian-style bell tower that rises above the surrounding city streets. As the oldest standing building in Santiago, this church has remained a constant presence since its construction began in fifteen eighty-six. Its thick masonry walls have survived at least fifteen major earthquakes that have leveled much of the city around it over the last four centuries.
