Teatro Metropolitano de Medellín - José Gutierrez Gómez

The Teatro Metropolitano José Gutiérrez Gómez is a large, austere building defined by its expansive facade of approximately one million two hundred thousand bricks. Opened on February nineteenth, nineteen eighty-seven, the venue occupies a nineteen-thousand-square-meter lot in the Alpujarra district. It was built to provide Medellín with a modern stage for music and the performing arts, addressing a need for better acoustics than the city’s older theaters previously offered.
