Den Grå Hal

Den Grå Hal is defined by its massive, slate-gray exterior and its scale as the largest building within the Freetown Christiania district. Originally constructed in eighteen ninety-one, the structure served as an equestrian riding hall for the Bådsmandsstræde Barracks. When the military abandoned the complex and residents occupied the area in the early nineteen seventies, the building was repurposed as a communal space for the burgeoning neighborhood.
